Turning a Passion into a Career with Peace Street Co.

Starting a great business sometimes requires a perfect storm. For Christina Biaggi, the founder and designer of Peace Street Co., that storm came in the form of a lifelong passion for fashion and jewelry, a love for creating, and a global pandemic.

In our conversation with Christina, we were able to get an in-depth look at how Peace Street Co. came to be and how our custom rubber stamps have helped her find success in building a strong brand!

Can you tell us a little bit more about Peace Street Co.?

Based in Pelham, NY, Peace Street Co. is a jewelry & accessories brand, specializing in handmade & custom designs. Each item is made-to-order with love & attention to detail by me, Christina Biaggi, the founder & designer. I’m so grateful to everyone who is a part of my journey, and I hope my creations bring my customers a little more joy to their life.

Is there anything specific you'd like readers to know about your business?

After losing my job in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to take what was once a dream of starting my own business, and turn it into a reality. I opened my Etsy shop in April 2021, and thus Peace Street Co. was born.

Background, how you find your creativity, etc.?

My love for all things fashion & jewelry began at a very young age when I could be found playing in my mom’s closet or with my grandmother’s jewelry box. My passion manifested as I studied fashion & business at NYU and pursued a career in fashion marketing for 10+ years. I am continually inspired by my experience and time spent working in the fashion industry. Not only has it given me an invaluable wealth of knowledge to build a brand & market a product, but it has also reinforced that creativity is not a competition, there is room for everyone.

Additionally, I am also incredibly inspired by small business owners & creators. They have given me the courage and excitement to continue creating & to follow my passion. If you put your heart into what you’re doing, people will respond to your authenticity. My goal is for Peace Street Co. to encompass who I am and what I love, and have the ability to share it with the world.

What was the inspiration behind the name Peace Street Co.?

Having launched Peace Street Co. in my childhood home, the brand’s namesake is inspired by the street where I grew up.

We really love your logo for the stamp. What was your inspiration behind it?

My inspiration behind the Peace Street Co. logo was a girly, nostalgic nod to the 90s. Given my marketing background, branding for me is something I take a lot of pride in, but as I’m sure many small business owners can agree, landing on a logo was no easy feat. After mocking up what felt like hundreds of iterations, I finally found the one! The final logo embodies a fun, feminine, handmade aesthetic, which goes hand in hand with my brand.

How are you using your stamps?

I am primarily using my stamps on packaging elements to customize cotton jewelry pouches, hang tags, business cards, thank you notes & jewelry boxes. I have even designed a “recycle me” stamp for my paper mailers, to encourage customers to recycle. Most recently, I have incorporated a custom embosser, which has elevated my packaging even further. From hang tags to business cards, the stamping possibilities are endless!

Why did you decide to use a rubber stamp, as compared to another branding option?

The idea of using rubber stamps was born from my childhood experience, where on any given day, my sister and I could be found stamping away. Stamping encapsulates a nostalgic handmade aesthetic, which is really what Peace Street Co. is all about. Stamping is also a more sustainable & flexible option, allowing me to stamp as I go and quickly modify design elements, especially during the holiday season.

How have our stamps helped you find success with your business?

I am incredibly impressed with the craftsmanship and the fine details that the stamps are able to capture, and these small details do not go unnoticed. Customers have responded very well to the packaging elements, which has contributed to brand recognition and an elevated customer experience.

How do you prepare your brand for the holiday season? Have our stamped helped you with branding during the holidays?

My goal was to offer holiday gift wrap for my first holiday selling season and the ease with which I was able to work with Rubber Stamps helped me achieve this. Being mindful of the supplies I had on hand, I was able to redesign my hangtag, repurpose my logo stamps for gift boxes and incorporate a new color scheme.
