You Take The Cake - Cupcake Card Instructions
1. Prepare your card base
To get started, gather all of your materials so you have them accessible. The first step is to prepare your card base. We kept this step simple by using a basic white card stock, folded in half, for our base layer. Then we cut a circle from a cute pink patterned paper to add to the center of our card.
If you have a Cricut machine, you can use the You Take The Cake Cricut files to cut dies for your stamp images. If you don't have a Cricut machine, use a second piece of white cardstock for stamping. You can then cut around your stamped images with scissors.

2. Stamp confetti with pencil erasers
Now your card is prepped and ready for the design! Use your pencil eraser to ink and stamp confetti dots sparingly across the top half of the card. Begin with one color, and then fill with the second color.
Tip: To create a cascading effect for the confetti, have a higher concentration of dots towards the top, spacing them out further down the card.
Lastly, this step is optional. Add clear embossing powder to your confetti dots. Simply sprinkle the powder over the confetti, remove excess powder, and then use a heat tool to set the embossing powder. This gives your confetti dots a fun and interesting effect - making them look like colorful water droplets.

3. Stamp the cupcake designs
Now it's time to design your cupcakes. Using clear stamps is easy, simply peel your stamp from it backing sheet and place it onto an acrylic stamp block. The photopolymer is slightly tacky, so your stamp can easily stick and be removed from your stamp block.
Second, ink your stamp with your pigment ink pad. In this project, we are using white and pink to match our cupcake theme. Pigment ink is best for use in heat embossing projects. Due to its slow-drying nature, the embossing powder sticks to the ink very well. If you are skipping the heat embossing section of this project, dye ink will work just fine. Finally, stamp your images onto the Cricut die cuts or an extra piece of white cardstock to cut around.
Tip: Notice we choose another paper for the cupcake stand. You could follow suit or use white paper and color the cupcake stand with markers or colored pencils. We choose another paper to create contrast and texture without having to color the stand.
4. Color the cupcake
Now it's time to color our cupcake. You can use your own creativity here. Try using art markers and colored pencils, or you can even grab a paintbrush or ink dauber to blend your ink onto the cupcake.
5. Assemble the card
It's time to put it all together! First, glue your circle to the center of your card. Next, place your cupcake stand and cupcake over the circle. Add your cupcake sparkler and finally stamp your greeting of choice at the bottom!
Tip: Place all of your elements together on your card to ensure the layout and look you want before you start gluing pieces down.
Once you are happy with the placement, glue all your elements down. We recommend using a glue runner as it is quick, easy, and mess-free.
You did it! You've completed a super sweet cupcake birthday card with just some paper and ink (embossing powder optional). Don't forget to follow us for more card-making inspiration and tips! Share your designs with us using #StampWithUS.
