DIY Stamped Clay Garden Markers

One of the crafting world’s coolest materials for DIY-ing is this magical little thing called polymer clay. You can make anything under the sun, pop it in the oven for a few minutes, and you’ve got a permanent creation!

A perfect summer craft project are these DIY stamped clay garden markers.

They’re simple enough for the kids to do, but useful enough for adults! Plus, our PEGZ stamps make imprinting any word or phrase on them a complete cinch.

Materials:

PEGZ Stamps
Polymer Clay (We used Sculpey Clay)
Glaze (We used DecoArt Americana Triple Thick Brilliant Brush-On Gloss Glaze)
Watercolor Paints
Paint Brush
Knife
Rolling Pin
Herbs!

Instructions:

1. Form the clay into a long roll, a bit longer than you want your marker to be.

2. Use the rolling pin to roll it flat, about ¼” inch thick.

3. Use the knife to cut the sides smooth and make a point.

4. Use your fingers to smooth any imperfections.

5. Use the PEGZ stamps to spell out your herbs or other produce.

6. Be sure to press firmly enough so that the letter is easy to read. If you get the rectangle stamp outline around the letter, simple use your finger to smooth it away!

7. Bake your markers according to your clay’s packaging. Sculpey Clay recommends baking at 275⁰ F for 15 minutes per ¼” of thickness. Once cooled, you can add some color to the markers with watercolor paint, or leave them with their natural clay look.
