It's Time to get festive with our crafts during the holidays. This time of year, there's nothing quite like the joy of sending and receiving heartfelt cards. In this blog, we're excited to share with you three delightful and easy-to-make holiday greeting cards that you can create in the comfort of your own home. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a beginner looking to add a personal touch to your holiday wishes, these three creative card ideas will not only spread cheer but also showcase your unique style. Get ready to unleash your creativity and make this holiday season extra special with these handmade treasures.

1. A simple embossed festive greeting card

Elevate your holiday card game by adding a touch of elegance with embossed greetings. Embossing is a simple yet sophisticated technique that allows you to create stunning raised text on your DIY holiday cards. By embossing your chosen holiday greetings, you add a tactile and visually appealing element that instantly transforms your card into a work of art.

With Varada Sharma's Holiday Sentiments clear stamp set, you can choose the festive greeting that relates to your celebrations. Whether it's a classic Christmas greeting or a Diwali, Kwanzaa, or Hanukkah sentiment, you can personalize your message with a subtle shimmer, making your card stand out.

Stamp a variety of your chosen greetings with craft ink and embossing powder. You can use clear embossing ink with metallic embossing powder or use metallic craft ink with clear embossing powder to achieve a shimmering glow. To achieve the embossing process, you will also need a heat tool to set the embossing powder.

With just these few basic supplies and a bit of creativity, you can design your own simple yet striking holiday greeting cards that leave a lasting impression on your recipients this holiday season!

2. Make a 3-dimensional candle lit window card

This next card will elevate your crafting skills. While still simple to create, you will practice your coloring, shading, blending, and layering craft skills to make this card truly merry and bright. You will need the Merry and Bright Clear Stamp Set for this project.

First things first, pick your paper, cut out a window frame, cut the die for your candle stamp, and then stamp your impression. Don't have a Cricut? that's ok, just stamp the candle on white stock paper with black ink. Then, you can hand-cut around the impression.

Next, color your candles. Once your candles are all colored in, we will use an ink blending tool on our background paper which is also our folded card base. We selected a deep navy color to emulate a night glow. Start with deep orange or yellow ink for the outer candle glow and use white ink for the brighter center glow. Test blending your ink colors on scrap paper if you choose a different color of paper, as they will look different blended on different papers.

Lastly, glue your candles down and stamp your holiday greeting. Then, using styrofoam adhesive dots, stick your window frame on top for a 3-dimensional layered look!

3. Techniques for a photo placeholder card

This card will use the same embossing technique as our first card, but we will take it one step further with layering and cutting slits to add your picture to the card. Once you have selected your paper and gathered your materials: Holiday Sentiments and Tiled Perfection Clear Stamp Set, embossing powder, heat tool, and craft ink - begin stamping and embossing your sentiments to make a pattern on your folded card base layer.

On the second paper layer, heat emboss your favorite poinsettia design from the Tiled Perfection Clear Stamp Set. Be sure to cut this layer smaller than the base layer.

Then, line up your photo and use a pencil to mark where you want to cut slits. Then following your marked guides, cut using an Xacto knife. Glue your second layer on top of your first layer, add your photo, and you have just made your own photo placeholder card for the holidays!
